Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell has been a chef, television host in America as well as an instructor at the Institute of Culinary Education. She's the host of Secrets of a Restaurant Chef on the Food Network and the co-host of Worst Cooks in America. With her trademark spiky blond hair and her pumped-up appearance, Anne Burrell eliminates the intimidation of restaurant dishes and reveals straightforward, simple techniques to master for the at-home cook in her Food Network series Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. Chef Burrell also has worked in some of New York's top establishments, learned about the Italian food and culture as well as was a contestant on Food Network's Iron Chef America. Burrell was born in New York State's Upstate, began to develop a passion for cooking. The Culinary Institute of America was the next step after she graduated with the Bachelor of Arts in English as well as Communications from Canisius College Buffalo NY. The Culinary Institute of America was a fantastic learning experience. It was hard to study and do enough or put in the hours. Following graduation at the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners chef Burrell took a full year in Italy learning and working in La Taverna del Lupo restaurant located in Umbria as well as La Bottega del 30 one Michelin star restaurant in Tuscany. Burrell gained a greater appreciation of Italian culture and cuisine while in Italy that has informed her cooking style. Burrell was a Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board participant, with the goal of to increase the quality of life for kids who are facing difficulties. Burrell also serves as an Juvenile Disease Research Foundation's celebrity ambassador and advocates awareness of the dangers of childhood diabetes. Burrell travels extensively across the country in her role as both a mentor and public speaker in which she speaks about her career and love of cooking. Anne always felt fortunate that she was able to share her passion of her life, and her passion for cooking, with people around the world.
