Renee Kathleen Zellweger
Renee Kathleen Zellweger, was born in
Katy, Texas on April 25, 1969. Her mother Kjellfrid (Andreassen), is a former
midwife and nurse from Norway, Kven (Finnish), as well as being of Swedish and
Norwegian descent. Her father, Emil Erich Zellweger, is an engineer from
Switzerland. They were married in 1963. Renee is a sister to a brother named
Drew Zellweger, a marketing executive born on February 15 in 1967. While
working in the drama group, Renee became interested in acting. She also took an
acting class at the University of Texas (Austin) in Austin, and then began
looking for a profession in acting. She wanted to pursue acting following
graduation. However, Hollywood can be difficult to get into and so Renee
determined to remain in Texas and apply for roles in Houston. In Houston, she
got roles in films like Reality Bites (1994), and Empire Records (1995).
Matthew McConaughey was another Hollywood newcomer that she met working on the
set of Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2: The Next Generation (1994). Renee watched him
work on a project which was of interest to her. She auditioned and got the part
in Love and A.45 (1994). The film earned her enough critical praise that she
decided to relocate to Los Angeles. Then, she was offered a part in The Whole
Wide World (1996), which gave her an opportunity to make her debut as a major
actress. Cameron Crowe was busy with casting Jerry Maguire (1996) which starred
Tom Cruise. Crowe was looking at actresses like Bridget Fonda and Marisa Tomei
when He saw Zellweger's performance in The Whole Wide World (1996). The
audition was conducted by Zellweger to be sure he was his Dorothy Boyd. Renee
continued her great success by releasing small independent films. Her films
received even more praise from critics, and was confident enough that she was
capable of re-entering large-budget Hollywood films. She was in the film
alongside Meryl Streep in the tearjerker One True Thing (1998). She also took a
role in Me, Myself & Irene (2000) in which she starred alongside Jim
Carrey, and soon after began dating Carrey. Bridget Jones's Diary (2001).
